Overview of Joyner Law Firm, P.C.
As a practicing lawyer throughout the state of South Carolina, Jr Joyner has a personal stake in each case he handles. That means that he puts his tireless work ethic into action by not only conducting research, doing investigation and preparing with an eye toward detail, but focusing on the clients’ best chances at positive results as well.
Joyner has undertaken a wide variety of cases during his nearly 12-year career, ranging from speeding and DUI cases to cases connected to murder, robbery and rape. His skills in trial advocacy set him apart in the courtroom, having argued more than 40 felonies before a jury, including seven murder cases. With regard to death penalty cases, Joyner is certified as lead counsel.
Since the opening of the Joyner Law Firm in April 2009, Jr Joyner has brought together a support staff within his firm that has the skills to make sure that each client’s representation is provided in a thorough and professional manner.
In addition, Joyner has received the same training that police officers in South Carolina receive with regard to Driving under the Influence (DUI). This includes the following subjects: the Basic Science of Evidential Breath Alcohol Testing, DWI Detection & Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, Datamaster DMT and Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).
That extensive background makes Joyner eminently qualified to argue DUI cases, since he is well aware of the necessary information regarding breath information that needs to be gathered during a police investigation. One indication of the serious approach he takes in this area is making sure he has 24/7 access to a Datamaster breath test device.
Eligible to argue cases in state courts, Joyner can offer representation in Summary Magistrate’s Court, Circuit or General Sessions Court, Appeals Court and even the South Carolina Supreme Court.
At the federal level, Joyner is available to present cases in District Court, the Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
Joyner did his undergraduate work at The Citadel, graduating in 2000 with a degree in Education. He then moved on to graduate from the Regent University School of Law three years later. His education has continued since then in a number of different ways, including graduating from the National Advocacy Center with training in both Trial Advocacy and Advanced Cross Examination.
A member in good standing of the South Carolina Bar, Joyner is a member of the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National College of DUI Defense and a Life Member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He’s also a Founding Member of both the DUI Defense Lawyers Association and the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys.
Philosophy of Our Firm
An aggressive and dedicated representative for his clients, Attorney Joyner focuses his practice of law almost entirely on criminal defense matters. We strongly believe that no matter what type of charges a person might face, those who are accused are constitutionally entitled to a thorough and vigorous defense. Criminal defendants have a number of important rights, and it is vital that they select an attorney who has experience and who is willing to fight on their behalf.
Attorney Joyner, having handled hundreds of criminal cases, has the experience needed to defend his clients against any charge. His representative cases have included everything from minor traffic offenses to serious felony matters, including rape, theft, robbery, weapons offenses and murder. When a person is facing criminal charges, it is important for them to know that their attorney is willing to fight for them throughout the entire case, up to and including a jury trial. People who are searching for a good criminal defense attorney should know whether their attorney is willing to go to trial. If you have questions, please call Joyner Law Firm and ask him how many times he’s gone to trial this year.
All people charged with a crime have a right to have their case tried to a jury. This jury trial right is included in the Bill of Rights, and as such, it is the foundation of our legal system. Unafraid of the courtroom, one of Attorney Joyner’s passions is fighting for his clients in trial. One of his favorite quotes is this one by Thomas Jefferson:
“I consider trial by jury as the only anchor ever yet imagined by man, by which a government can be held to the principles of its constitution.”
From the first time Franklin Joyner meets with his clients, he begins working on their defense case. He understands that there are two sides to every story. In order to build the defense, he utilizes all tools available. Mr. Joyner regularly hires investigators who can locate and interview all witnesses, experts that can review evidence and testify about their findings, consultants and researchers, all of whom may help tell his clients’ stories.
We know that the key to a great defense is thorough preparation. To that end, he and his staff conduct in-depth research into every case. Whenever he walks into the courtroom on behalf of a client, he is thus well-prepared to provide superior representation and is never afraid to go to trial. Cops and prosecutors alike respect Joyner Law Firm’s preparation.
Firmly committed to attorney-client confidentiality, We strive to maintain the anonymity of his clients. He has handled many cases about which the public has no knowledge due to his work to protect the reputation and confidentiality of his clients.
If you have been charged with a crime, there are several things to do. First, do not talk to law enforcement officers. You have a constitutional right to remain silent and your silence cannot be used as evidence against you. You also have a right to an attorney. If police try to question you, do not be afraid to assert these two highly important rights. After asserting your rights, retain legal counsel immediately. You may contact Attorney Franklin Joyner 24 hours a day at 1.843.253.5316 or send a email to jr@joynerlawsc.com.
Meet Attorney Franklin B. Joyner, Jr.
A native of Patrick, South Carolina, Franklin grew up working in the gun store owned by his father. Those years of experience engendered within him a deep appreciation of the Second Amendment specifically and firearms in general. Upon finishing high school, Franklin enrolled at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, the institution from which he graduated in 2000. Thereafter, he attended Regent University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2003.
After completing law school, Franklin began his tenure as a Fourth Judicial Circuit Assistant Solicitor. During this time he was responsible for the prosecution of thousands of criminal matters, many of which were violent felonies and murder cases. This experience provided him with an extensive level of jury trial experience that can often be difficult to obtain. Two common themes running throughout many of the criminal cases Franklin tried in this role were self defense and use of force. Owing largely to this work, Franklin is extremely knowledgeable with regard to the legal issues surrounding both of these complex and controversial concepts.
Franklin decided to leave his post as an Assistant Solicitor in 2009 in order to launch a criminal defense practice. Since then, he has dedicated himself entirely to the defense of those facing criminal charges. Franklin has served as counsel in 40 felony trials, with seven of those being murder trials. A life member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Franklin also holds membership in the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. In addition, he holds certification in South Carolina as lead counsel for cases involving the death penalty. A graduate of the National Advocacy Center, he has achieved designations in the areas of Advanced Cross Examination and Trial Advocacy. Franklin is a founding member of DUI Defense Lawyers Association as well as a member of the National College for DUI Defense. On top of the numerous distinctions he has earned within the legal profession, Franklin is also a competition-level shooter and a Patron Life Member of the National Rifle Association.
